Often called the “Truth in Lending Act,” Regulation Z protects consumers from predatory lending practices, requiring that lenders disclose borrowing costs, interest rates, and fees upfront and in clear language so consumers can understand all the terms and make informed decisions. Regulation Z also restricts how loan originators can be paid and prohibits steering borrowers to loans that would result in more compensation for the lender.
